| Cornerstone Records announces the release of a newly discovered studio session by jazz pianist Mark Eisenman with his longstanding trio members. Recorded on March 19, 2006 at Inception Sound Studios in Toronto, this never-before-released recording showcases the trio performing a set of energetic, yet intimate, versions of ‘jazz classics’. While his previous release on Cornerstone featured his own compositions, Mark has always enjoyed performing music from the ‘Great American Songbook’ and feels that there is something very revealing and informative about hearing a band’s approach to interpreting standard jazz tunes. As Mark’s states: “If they are rendered honestly, with feeling and swing, that is an accomplishment in and of itself and makes these songs fresh and well worth hearing again. It is in that spirit that this material is approached. A good studio, great producer, great piano and three good musicians who trust each other, with no plan, no arrangements, no tricks; just intense listening and the joy of rediscovering well-chosen material that has been played and recorded hundreds, if not thousands, of times.” |
